The Concept
A City & A Garden is a state-of-the-art installation programme that endeavours to bring people to a new or refreshed understanding of the city spaces they inhabit. Using the contrasting ecosystems of urbanity and nature in two locations (Cork and Dublin), interwoven narratives and soundscapes will envelop the audience as they walk a site-specific route.
Taking visitors on a sonic journey, this multi-faceted project will transform what is assumed and familiar about streetscape and landscape via a prism of narrated literature and site-responsive music, through which
our relationship with natural and built environments can be explored anew.
The work—a hybrid of music and literature—explores the concepts of place and placemaking, human-environment interactions and the layers of cultural history that shape our perspectives.
